Veterans Day Deals

According to the U.S. Census Bureau there are over 18.5 million veterans, and many businesses choose to honor them with exclusive discounts and deals. While some places offer military discounts year-round, most businesses offer special incentives for Veterans Day, including sales and free or discounted meals and entertainment. If you’re a veteran, active or retired military member, you’re eligible to take advantage of these offers over the course of Veterans Day weekend as businesses say “thank you for your service.” We’ve compiled a list of current Veterans Day benefits as a guide to 2017 promotions; if you aren’t military, but know someone who is, share this post with them so they can enjoy these freebies and deals, too.

Veterans day deals range from free meals to discounts

When is Veterans Day?

Veterans Day is always November 11, and that falls on a Saturday in 2017.

In 1919, President Woodrow Wilson declared November 11 as Armistice Day because in 1918, World War I fighting ceased on November 11 due to an armistice between the Allied Nations and Germany. In 1938, it was made a legal holiday, and in 1954, Congress amended the word “Armistice” to “Veterans”. President Dwight D. Eisenhower issued the first Veterans Day Proclamation in 1954, and we’ve honored those who served every year since.

Tips for redeeming Veterans Day sales and discounts

Before you head to any restaurant, store or attraction, it’s important to verify a couple details:

  • Check with the individual businesses for any proof required. Some require military ID, proof of service or other documents.
  • Verify your location is participating. Many offers have the caveat that they apply at “participating locations only.” While that likely means all or most locations, we recommend checking first.
  • Confirm offer details such as discounts available for dine-in meals only, and keep in mind most don’t include beverages.
