But first things first: If you haven’t already, we recommend getting a free moving quote for your upcoming move – when you do this we’ll check serviceability to/from your zip codes and provide your price and estimated transit time.
Now, let’s move on to the specifics...
Parking in Brooklyn with U-Pack
As you probably know, Brooklyn is the most populous borough of New York City. That means there are a lot of vehicles, people and buildings packed into a small area. As you can imagine, this makes parking a 28-foot moving trailer a little difficult (check out moving trailer and ReloCube parking requirements). Because of this, we’re required to do a “live load” in Brooklyn. This means that we don’t park and leave the trailer. Instead the driver stays with it while it’s being loaded. In Brooklyn, you get the first 4 hours free – if you need more than 4 hours, it’s available for an additional fee.
So, if you choose U-Pack to move you to/from Brooklyn (and we hope you do), it’s important to make sure parking is available for your scheduled loading/unloading times. An easy solution may be to park your own vehicles in the parking spaces then move them when the driver arrives. Another option is to contact the city – often they can issue cones to block off the space.
Loading and Unloading Help
While most U-Pack moves are self-service “you pack, we drive,” we do have many customers who need assistance in loading or unloading – specifically in Brooklyn where there’s a need to load quickly. If that’s the case for you, we’ll gladly help arrange for a moving crew – when you request a quote, just select the “Provide loading/unloading rates” option, or ask your U-Pack representative. Many people moving to/from Brooklyn live in apartments with stairs or elevators – make sure to indicate this when discussing your move with your U-Pack representative because it can affect your price.
Though a move to Brooklyn is a little more complicated than a move to other less-congested parts of the country, it’s definitely possible with U-Pack. Call 800-413-4799 to speak with a moving specialist or click to get a free moving quote online. Have questions? We would love to help.
