I’ve searched the web for the best New Year’s locations. If you’ve recently moved, discover some of the very best places to celebrate New Year’s near you!
New York City
Of course I couldn’t leave this location off the list! Because this is the #1 New Year’s location, you’ll want to plan your trip early! Remember, no alcohol or backpacks are allowed in Times Square during this time. And don’t drink too much water out there; there are no portable restrooms in Times Square during the celebration. If there’s a place that truly knows how to party, it’s Vegas! On New Year’s, the strip is closed down and no traffic can go through. Partiers are encouraged to go into the street to celebrate. There are plenty of portable restrooms available. Keep in mind that the casinos close their doors to anyone who is not a guest on this night, so you might want to stay at a hotel on the strip. Fireworks are shot at midnight from eight rooftops along the strip! Once the fireworks end, it can be hectic to get to a nearby bar or night club, so check out these great tips for spending New Year’s in Vegas to make your game plan.
This city doesn’t just have a good time at Mardi Gras! In New Orleans, you can gather at Jackson Square for the Baby New Year to appear on Jax Brewery at midnight. Then, there’s a 15 minute fireworks show over the Mississippi River! You can take your celebrations to the French Quarter until the early morning hours. Many residents stay in town after New Year’s to watch the Allstate Sugar Bowl. Here are tips for having fun in New Orleans for New Year’s.
Walt Disney World in Orlando
As soon as the Christmas festivities are over, Disney immediately starts preparing for the New Year, and they do it in style! New Year’s Eve festivities will take place at Epcot, the Magic Kingdom, and Hollywood Studios theme parks. All parks are closed to additional guests for the nightly celebrations (those already in the park don’t have to leave). Park hopping is not recommended on New Year’s. Once the amazing fireworks display is over, you can stay in the park and enjoy the rides instead of battling foot traffic to leave the park. Drive into Canada and experience all Queen Victoria Park has to offer on New Year’s. There is live music (Our Lady Peace and Simple Plan are performing this year) and two rounds of fireworks—all for free! While you’re waiting for midnight, go to Clifton Hill, a nearby amusement park with the kids! There is no alcohol allowed on-site, but there is a beer garden off-site. If you want to be indoors, plenty of hotels offer New Year’s packages with spectacular views of the falls and fireworks just outside your window!
