July 31st, 2012 - 2:59 PM
Here at U-Pack, we are all about hometowns. We know that after a move, life starts in your new hometown. So we were curious about the hometowns of the 2012 United States Olympic Athletes. Now, there are well over 500 athletes from the US, so we can’t cover them all. But we did cover some of the familiar names you know and love! And in U-Pack fashion, we have thrown in some moving info and fun facts to the mix! Enjoy!

2012 US Gymnastic Team Hometowns

  • Gabby Douglass comes from Virginia Beach, VA. Her teammate Jordan Wieber lives in De Witt, MI.

  • Jonathan Horton and Jake Dalton both resided in Norman, OK during college where they attended the University of Oklahoma (not at the same time).

2012 US Swimming Team Hometowns

  • From Daytona Beach, FL, Ryan Lochte calls the “World’s Most Famous Beach” home.

  • Michael Phelps lives in Baltimore, where there is an ABF service center.

  • Olympic newbie Missy Franklin lives in Aurora, CO where she attends Regis Jesuit High School. She is on the school’s swim team!

  • Natalie Coughlin (who had 12 Olympic medals prior to the 2012 Olympics!) hangs all those medals in her home in Vallejo, CA.

2012 US Tennis Hometowns

  • Venus Williams resides in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.

  • Her teammate, Andy Roddick, calls Austin, TX home. It has been reported that he lives in a gated community on Lake Austin with Mount Bonnell in the background.

2012 US Beach Volleyball Team Hometowns

  • Misti May-Treanor lives in Coral Springs, FL. She is 2,717 miles from teammate Kerri Walsh-Jennings, who lives in Hermosa Beach, CA. They practice on beaches of two different oceans!

  • Todd Rogers and Phil Dalhausser are a bit closer. Rogers calls Solvang, CA home. He is a mere 66 miles from Dalhausser who lives in Ventura, CA.

2012 Track and Field Team Hometowns

  • Calling Santa Clara, CA home is Allyson Felix. Maybe Allyson takes a point from her city’s nickname, “The Mission City.”  She makes it her mission to win gold at the Olympics!

  • Sprinter Tyson Gay went to college in our neck of the woods at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. He now resides in Clermont, FL.
