Finding a job on Facebook? New jobs board helps applicants find jobs
Today, Facebook launched a new application as part of the Social Jobs Partnership. This jobs board makes it easy for applicants to search for jobs right on the social network.
The Social Jobs Partnership is a joint effort between Facebook, the US Department of Labor, the National Association of Colleges and Employers, DirectEmployers Association, and the National Association of State Workforce Agencies created to use social media to connect people with jobs.
The Social Jobs Partnership was created last year, but the Facebook jobs board launched today. On the jobs board, applicants can see over 1.7 million job postings (aggregated from BranchOut, DirectEmployers Association, Work4Labs, Jobvite, and Monster.com). You can search by industry, location, or keyword. There is even an option for veteran-friendly jobs.
This new Facebook application makes it easy to search for and share jobs. If your friend is looking for a job, you can send them job postings in a Facebook message right from the jobs board. Very convenient!
Fifty percent of employers use Facebook during the hiring process, so it makes sense to make job postings available on Facebook to the over 1 billion Facebook users. While jobs were previously available on Facebook via the Marketplace “Jobs” section, by using tools like Jobvite and Monster.com, they are able to post many more jobs than before using the Social Jobs Partnership application. With the national unemployment rate at 7.9%, making jobs available to applicants is more important now than ever before.
Will you search for a job on the Facebook job board? Leave us a comment! We love to hear from you.
