Decorating your new home
New Place, Same Old Stuff
Just think a new place, a new job, a new set of friends you get a brand new start! A new home to live in and to decorate is going to be so much fun!
But, wait. The same old furniture is following you. Before you get too sad, I've got a few good ideas to try to jazz up your new place.
Here's what I would do first:
Get Paint Happy
Almost everything can be painted and it is easy to change if you don't love it. Don't forget about spray paint. This is a low cost way of changing the finish on any type of fixture. The hardest part is deciding on the color. Go get a gallon, or a can!
Find amazing inspirational photos of a room you would like to create. Then, make it happen the smart affordable way. There's always a way to do it for less. Inspirational pictures can offer something as simple as a new idea on furniture placement or a decorating theme for the entire house. My two favorite places for inspiration are Horchow and of course HGTV Designer's Portfolio. Since you never know when you are going to find the perfect addition for a room or think of an idea, I usually keep the pictures with me.
Accents are the Assets
Pick up a new lamp shade, some throw pillows, or splurge and get new bedding. New bathroom towels and rugs are other simple ways to make a change. I also like to have real plants in the house. It's good for your health and plants look great in the corner of any room. It's amazing how these small changes can really make a big difference.
