Though Puerto Rico belongs to the U.S., it isn't actually part of the country -- it's a U.S. territory. Now that you have your Permanent Change of Station orders to begin moving to Fort Wainwright, you have a choice to make: let the government plan the move for you or do a Personally Procured Move (PPM), where you are in charge of your move. Eligible service members with PCS orders will be offered a monetary allowance from the government if they decide to do a PPM move. Basically, if your move to Fort Carson ends up costing less than your allowance from the government, you get to keep what’s left over. This makes doing a PPM totally worth it. Sound good?
