Moving? Don’t forget your moving announcements!
There are many people to notify about an upcoming move, but it’s not always convenient to make the announcement. It’s easy to tell people you frequently see in person: coworkers, neighbors, the friend you have lunch with each week. But there are several other people to tell (just think about all the families who send you Christmas cards every year). The good news is it’s easy to make a free (or at least very inexpensive) moving announcement. Print them and mail them or post one on social media — they’re easy to download and customize.

Get mail at your new home with a USPS Change of Address Form
Have you ever seen a yellow sticker on a piece of mail with the words return to sender, not deliverable as addressed or unable to forward? The United States Postal Service calls these pieces “Undeliverable As Addressed” (UAA) mail — they can’t be delivered with the address on them and must be forwarded, returned or thrown away. According to Mailing Systems Technology, the USPS handles over 6 billion pieces of UAA mail annually, but only about 20% of it gets forwarded to a new address. And 75% of the time, this happens because someone moves.
Filling out a Change of Address form will ensure your mail gets to your new home. Look at the options for forwarding, completing the process and what items will and won’t forward.

Leaving the San Francisco Bay Area?
According to a report by real-estate brokerage firm Redfin, more people are moving out of the San Francisco area than anywhere else in the United States. This is linked to factors such as tax rates and housing costs, but the sheer amount of people leaving is actually making it more expensive for others to move. When demand is high, moving rates often increase.
If you’re making plans to leave San Francisco, San Jose, Fremont or another Bay Area city, you might want to do a little shopping around. By getting multiple quotes, you’re more likely to find the best price. Compare rates to find out which option is cheapest.

Compare move and storage options
When it comes to an affordable and simple move, there’s often no better option than a moving container. They’re easy to load, and since you don’t have to drive, the experience can be more convenient than driving a rental truck. There are a lot of choices, though, so deciding on a moving and storage service that meets your needs may not be quite as simple.
