When should I reserve my move from Alaska? Category: Alaska Moves

When a customer requests a price quote for moving out of Alaska to the lower 48, the conversation usually ends with the same question, "When do I need to make my reservation?"

If you are moving from Alaska this fall or winter, our answer will be, "right now".

Why reserve moves from Alaska so quickly?
It's always a good idea to reserve an outbound Alaska move with plenty of advance notice, but it's even more important right now since movers are anticipating a large number of military moves from Fairbanks beginning in November 2009 and going through January 2010.  This may lead to a shortage of movers since many of those helping out will be Anchorage moving companies. So, if your move is planned for the next few months, we recommend that you reserve your moving equipment as soon as possible or you may be left out in the cold (pun intended).

Here at U-Pack, we have access to ABF Freight System's pool of over 17,000 28 ft. trailers.  This means we can book moves out of Alaska with as little as two week's notice.  We can bring a moving trailer to your home for you to load and then deliver it to almost anywhere in the lower 48 in 10-15 business days.  Compared to other Alaska moving companies, that's fast! If you need to move in less than two weeks, please call us.  We may be able to provide a trailer with less notice if another customer has cancelled a move on short notice.  If you have a small amount to move, we also have moving containers available for loading at our service center in Anchorage.

If you have an upcoming move from Alaska, call or click to get a moving quote.  There is no deposit required to reserve and your reserved move date is guaranteed. Also, there's no fee if you discover later that you need to re-schedule your move for a later date.

Let us know if you have questions about moving out of Alaska...if we don't have the answer, we'll find it!

If we know we are moving to Alaska next spring, can we reserve and then change the move date for the same price? Or does the price/quote change?

Also, how much does it cost to store one 22’or 28’ trailer in Anchorage per month?

Thank you!

Our quotes are valid for four months, so right now we can reserve a move through late March 2010. There is never a fee to re-schedule your move date. If your final move date is after your moving quote has expired, we can usually honor the same rate unless our costs have changed(gas goes up to $5 a gallon, for example). We don't actually store the trailers in Anchorage but we can store it in Tacoma, WA before it sails to AK. The current storage rate will be listed in your quote. It sounds like you are planning your move well in advance (really important when moving to Alaska) so everything should go smoothly. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

If you do not store the trailers in Anchorage, can you store the Relocubes in Anchorage? We will need to store our items for several months, while we are in temporary housing. I suppose we could store our items in Tacoma for those few months, as well--does this create any hassles down the road? Is it relatively easy to ship a trailer to Anchorage from Tacoma with only a few weeks notice?

Thank you!

We would also store the Relocubes at our Tacoma facility. You would just need to let us know about a week before you want your goods to arrive in Anchorage.
