Determining the Cost of Your Move
With U-Pack it’s simple to determine the cost of your move. We simply base the moving cost on where you’re moving from and to, how much moving trailer space or number of ReloCubes you use and your move date.

So, you don’t have to worry about determining how much everything weighs like you do with typical moving companies. Just use our easy space estimator to calculate your linear footage or number of needed ReloCubes and get a quick and accurate moving cost estimate.

Here are some helpful tips for lowering your moving cost:

Do a U-Pack terminal to terminal move.  If lowering your moving cost is the goal, load and unload your items at an ABF service center instead of door to door delivery. This can oftentimes drop a few hundred dollars off your move price.

Have a moving sale and get rid of stuff. Moving less stuff means taking up less space. If you don’t plan to use it at your new home, don’t move it. Moving less is a sure-fire way to lower your moving cost.

Change your move date: U-Pack, like many services, has “peak” and “off-peak” days. Take a look at the move day calendar. If your move day is flexible (the day we deliver the moving trailer or ReloCube to start loading), you can choose an off-peak day and lower your cost to move. Typically the off-peak days are Tuesdays and Wednesdays at the beginning of the month.

We keep getting a quote for a truck to coming out. IN reality I think a relo cube would be better. The only furniture we have is an L shaped sofa and a queen size mattress and boxspring. Other than some pictures (which will be boxed/wrapped) and about 20 boxes that’s all we have. Would that fit into 1 relo cube and what would the cost be from Salinas, CA (93906) to Addison, TX (75001). We would be loading somewhere around the 28th of September. Also, what is the transit time and do we have to be at our final destination when the truck gets into that city or can it be held at a facility for a few days? Thank you.

What will typically fit into one ReloCube is a couch, love seat, coffee table, mattress, box spring, headboard, bedside table, 2 dressers and about 20 boxes.

So, it does sound like what you’re bringing will fit into a ReloCube. If you want to give us a call at 800-413-4799 and give the reference number on your current quote, we can check to see if a ReloCube is available in the city you are moving from and to, and give you the price for it. We can also let you know what the transit time is (you should be able to see that on the quote you have now). Once we get to the ABF destination terminal, we can hold it for you for up to 2 business days at no charge. Or, if you need, you can choose to put the trailer or ReloCube into storage. Hope this information helps! Give us a call and we’ll help with the specifics.
