Here are some great ways to research the moving companies you want to compare:
- Compare each option by price by getting moving quotes. This way, you’ll know which options will fit your moving budget. If you come across a price that’s too good to be true, it may be.
- Use consumer review websites like epinions.com, movingscam.com, and BBB to see what real people are saying about the moving options you’re comparing.
- Check the Bond, Department of Transportation (DOT), and Motor Carrier (MC) numbers of each company. If the moving option you’re considering has these numbers, then they are licensed to move household goods or are an all commodities carrier. - Of course, those aren’t the only numbers you need to know. Find out how long the company has been in business and be sure to test phone numbers to make sure the company is legit.

Having to deal with the stress of job relocation could be hard on the family. I recently had to move due to my husband’s job and believe me it was a lot of work merely making the move. With all the stress of packing, loading and unloading and then unpacking, it becomes a job in itself. A lot of these tasks were my burden to carry seeing how my husband had to continue working. In addition to all of this I also had to find a good home to move into in an area that I was unfamiliar with.
