Choosing From a Large List of Relocation Services

Have you searched the words "relocation services" lately? My guess is YES if there is a move in your future. And, since you're visiting a moving blog, my guess is that you're moving soon.

Did you notice how long the search results list is for "relocation services"? Don't get me wrong, it's good there are so many options to choose from – that usually means it's more competitive. But, wading through them all to find what you really need is a little overwhelming. I'll try to break it down a little, to maybe save some time.

You've got a few options to choose from when you're relocating long distance (and there are several relocation services within each niche):

Do-it-yourself Relocation Services

These are normally limited to truck rental. You do everything, from start to finish.  People usually choose these types of relocation services because they assume they're the cheapest way to relocate (there aren't many people just dying to drive a large, unfamiliar truck across country).

"You pack, we drive" Relocation Services

You do the packing, loading and unloading, but not the driving. Most of these relocation services offer door-to-door delivery, meaning the moving truck is brought right to your door on both ends. It might surprise you to learn that the price for ABF U-Pack Moving is similar to truck rental – so the assumption that do-it-yourself relocation services are the cheapest way to move isn't always correct.

"You pack, we drive" + moving labor

Even if you can't do all of the packing, loading or unloading, you can still choose the low-cost relocation services that companies like ABF U-Pack offer. If you're able to do some of the labor but need help with the heavy stuff (on either end), you can pair a "you pack, we drive" move with Moving Staffers moving help and still expect affordable prices.

Full Service Relocation Services

These relocation services can do everything, from start to finish. Including packing, crating, loading and unloading. And you'll see prices that range from affordable to very expensive.  In fact, MoveBuilder, a full service moving company, is a good choice when you need comprehensive relocation services but you're on a tight moving budget.

Hey everyone! Just figured ide give a piece of advice. I have worked with about 30 or 40 different moving companies for quite some time now. I can say truthfulyy that each moving company has their good and bad experiences. And from y professional experience which moving company you choose plays a very small role in whether or not you have a good or a bad move. Its all about your crew. Some crews are good, some are bad. Thats just the way it is. And the biggest mistake the moving companies make is this...The crew that does your packing, is NOT the crew that unloads your items. And where that causes a problem is as follows....if you have any antique items, or anything really that has been taken apart in any way. ESPECIALLY if the piece is compley or unique in any way. 1 of the golden rules of furniture repair is "if you take it apart, you put it back together". And the sad thing is, there is nothing that can be done other than exceptional organization when it comes to your parts. Also it is hard to know whether your crew is a good one or bad one. You just have to work with whatever they give you. TIP=dont put too many huge and heavy items on the 3rd floor, like pianos. movers dont appreciate it very much. lol. I will answer any questions that anyone may have. In my spare time. ask away everyone
