If I'm storing my items, what should I take with me?

This question may seem like it's fairly easy to answer, but moving can be stressful so it's easy see how you might do something like accidentaly pack up your passport two weeks before leaving the country!  I recommend that before you pack for storage, you make a list to avoid forgetting something important – if you're doing container storage, once it's in storage it may not be possible to gain access to it.  Although everyone's list will vary, this list may prove helpful:

  • Medicine (it's a good idea to throw away any that may expire while in storage).
  • Personal identification forms and important documents (passport, birth certificate, social security card etc.)
  • Important contact numbers (address book)
  • Camera
  • Cell Phone (don't forget the charger!)
  • Batteries
  • Alarm Clock
  • First Aid Kit
  • Hairbrush (and other toiletries)
  • Medical Records (shot records etc.)
  • Eye care (glasses, contact solution...)
  • Necessary Clothing (will vary depending on length of storage)
  • Bank Cards (Wallet)

These have been the most common/important for the people I have talked to. If I've neglected to list something you found important, let me know!

One of our U-Pack employees, who is also a retired Marine, reminded me that it’s important to take any uniform items you may need with you

My name is Bridget Reno and I live in Orlando Florida. I recently had to pack up and move to another area. I searched for days struggling to find the best company to help my family and me with this move. In this case of moving to a new home, similar to packing up many of your belonging, a storage company may be the way to go. I talked to a bunch of moving companies in the area and most of them made me really nervous. If you chose to use any kind of moving company, please take the time to research the company first before trusting them with all your personal belongings. Even If you are looking to clear out a bunch of your stuff to make room for holiday decorations or whatever it may be. It might be a good idea to find a good storage company to store your belongings in temporarily.

I’ve moved many times but never had to store my items before, it’s just been home to home. This time it’s apartment to house and I truely want to move tomorrow. I’m so excited to make this move, South Carolina is such a beautiful state and I’ve been threw it but never lived there. First it’ll be hubby and me then son and daughter-in-law then daughter and son-in-law. Like I said I want to make it tomorrow but it won’t happen then. My hubby was in the Marine’s also.
