Moving In – Where Do I Start? You've done the hard part – your life is packed up in moving boxes, ready to go. Now it's on to the fun part, right? Moving in a new home is exciting, but it can be just as overwhelming as coordinating the move out of the old one. Where do you start? Organize, Organize, Organize… When you're moving in a new home, organization is the key to your move going smoothly. That organization should start when you're packing your boxes. It is important to label your boxes clearly so that you know exactly what is in the box and which room the box should go in. If you do this, you won't have to constantly answer the question "where does this box go?" from your helpers on the day you're moving in— after all, it's written on the box! It is also essential that you pay attention to the order the items are being loaded into the moving trailer or moving container. After a long day of unloading, no one wants to tiredly search through a sea of boxes for the one that holds the blankets and pillows. So make sure you can easily locate your bedding items, just in case everything doesn't make it off the trailer that first day of moving in. Cleaning It is crucial that you CLEAN your new home prior to moving in. Before any boxes or furniture come through the door, put your rags, sponges, and all-purpose cleaner to work. Make sure you clean the baseboards, inside of cabinets, ceiling fans, bathrooms, kitchen, and floors – even if it looks clean, you will feel better knowing that you cleaned it yourself.
