How U-Pack Calculates Move Rates
In order to calculate your U-Pack price, we’ll need to know a little information about your move:
- Where are you moving from and to (cities/states or zip codes)?
- When are you moving (just a general idea is fine)?
- How much are you moving (just a general estimate or you can get more detailed with the space estimator tool)?
Now, just enter that information here and you’ll see the price instantly (in a few locations it will have to be reviewed by an analyst and we’ll send you an email with the move rate).
If you’re not familiar with how U-Pack works, let me explain... U-Pack is a DIY “you pack, we drive” moving service—so you pack, load, and unload, and U-Pack does the driving. You have two options available; you can choose a trailer move, or a container move.
When you move in a trailer, your move rate is based on the linear footage your shipment occupies. The trailers are 28-feet in length (you can find out more about them here). On moving day, you load your belongings into the trailer, starting at the nose, and continue until everything is loaded and secure. Whatever footage you’re at when you finish is the amount you pay for (regardless of how much you reserve). So, let’s say you’re moving a 3-bedroom home and you think you’ll need 21 linear feet of trailer space. You finish loading and you actually managed to fit everything into 19 linear feet. YAY! To find your move rate, just take your 21-foot price and subtract the per-foot adjustment rate that’s included in your quote. If you haven’t gotten a moving quote yet, you can get one online here.
Now, let’s look at how the move rate for a container move is calculated. U-Pack’s container moving solution is called a ReloCube (or Cube for short). It’s a 6’ x 7’ x 8’ container that sits flat on the ground for easy loading and unloading. You can find out more about ReloCubes here. Customers with small moves, or parking issues find it a great option because you can reserve as many as you think you need, and pay only for what you end up using (and they fit easily into a standard-size parking space). So, let’s say you’re moving a two-bedroom apartment across the country and you think you’ll need three ReloCubes. On moving day you load your belongings and you’re able to fit everything into two Cubes. Success! Just let us know and we’ll adjust your move rate to the price for two Cubes. Customers love the flexibility. If you want to see the price for a ReloCube, get a moving quote online, or call us at 800-413-4799.
