Need local information?

It's pretty easy to find the general city data for an area (such as the population, zip codes, etc).  However, it's not so easy to find out the useful local information that affects your day to day life.  

Most people who are making a big move cross country have visited the town they're moving to, or at the very least know someone that's been there.  But how are you supposed to find out the ’inside info'?
