It's Flashback Friday— each week, U-Pack will revisit a blog topic that's been helpful and fun for our readers. Be sure to check the comments section of each post for even more valuable moving advice! How Budget rental trucks compare to U-Pack You pick the truck up at a Budget rental truck location and return it to a Budget rental location. U-Pack brings the moving trailer right to your door at both locations and you never have to drive. With Budget rental trucks, you pay for the entire truck, whether you need all the space or not – and if you need more space, you can either leave stuff behind or order another rental truck. U-Pack charges are based on linear footage. If you're moving a large home and need the full trailer, it's available (you can actually use more than one trailer if you need to). If you're moving a small to medium-sized home you simply pay based on the linear footage used in the trailer. Fuel, taxes and liability coverage/insurance are not included in your Budget rental truck price. So, make sure to add your state and city sales tax and the cost for insurance/liability coverage to your price. According to the experts, rental trucks typically get somewhere between 5-10 miles per gallon. To calculate fuel cost for your move, you can use the rental truck fuel calculator. U-Pack moving prices include fuel, taxes and limited liability coverage. Budget's terms and conditions state that the pick-up and drop-off locations and time and date of rental selected in your reservation is a preference only. That means if your preference is not available, Budget may offer alternatives. The equipment you select is subject to availability at the time of pickup too. If it's not available, they may offer alternative equipment at no additional charge. This may not be a big deal if they're offering a larger size, but if it's a smaller size, it could be. U-Pack guarantees your move date and equipment. With Budget truck rental, you pay a $150 refundable deposit (returned at drop-off). Your credit card is charged when you pick up your rental truck or you can pay by cash or check at that time. U-Pack doesn't charge a down payment or a deposit and you can pay by credit card while your shipment is in transit or with a cashier's check or money order when it's delivered to your destination.
