| A New Angle on Parking | Category: Parking |

When you are deciding where to park an ABF trailer or ReloCube, there are a few things to evaluate: available space, quality of parking surface, and any slopes or inclines. In order to determine what space you will need, make sure you know the outer dimensions of our trailers and ReloCubes. On average, our trailers will occupy 3-4 parking places. However, please remember to allow room for the driver to maneuver into place. Just to be safe, I would suggest having 45-50 feet of space. The relocubes, however, only require one parking place each. Either way you go, a flat paved surface will work best. I have found that our trailers can usually be placed on firmly packed gravel, but never on soft earth or grassy areas. Since the ReloCubes are delivered with fork lifts, pavement or asphalt is practically a requirement. If you are dealing with a gravel or dirt surface, I would highly suggest calling your local ABF terminal to discuss the terrain. Lastly, examine any slopes in your street or driveway. Ideal conditions would involve an incline of less than 5º. What does that look like exactly? It is hard to describe an incline in words, so I have included a picture of the leaning Tower of Pisa. The tower leans at a 5.5º angle. Now, picture it lying on its side. If you believe your parking area is steeper than this, I would refer you back to your local terminal to discuss the location. Sometimes we have drivers in your area that can check out your address personally. This usually is not necessary, but please let us know of any concerns you have so we can help.

This is my first time using ABF, and it was a great experience. Thanks!
