A New Angle on Parking

When you're deciding where to park an ABF Freight trailer or ReloCube®, there are a few things to evaluate: available space, quality of parking surface, and any slopes or inclines.

To help determine how much space you need, it's a good idea to make yourself familiar with the dimensions of the moving trailer and ReloCube (depending on what type of equipment you decide on). You'll need 3-4 car lengths for a moving trailer, and that includes room for the ramp and maneuvering the trailer into place; we recommend around 45-50 feet of space. The ReloCube, however, only requires one parking place per container. Either way you go, you'll need a level, hard surface. While firmly packed gravel will normally work, the equipment cannot be placed on soft earth or grassy areas.

Speaking of "level," for customers with a sloped driveway or street, parking is often a concern. Ideal conditions are an incline of less than 5º. What does that look like exactly? It's a little difficult to describe an incline in words, so I've included an image of the leaning Tower of Pisa. The tower leans at a 5.5º angle. Now, picture it lying on its side.  If you believe your parking area is steeper than this, call us at 800-413-4799 and a U-Pack Moving Consultant can help you determine if parking will be an issue.
