Preparing for a move is definitely a two-way street. The companies you’re considering will have questions for you—where you’re moving from and to, how much you’re planning to move and when you’re moving. And you’ll have questions for them. Very important questions. And the answers they give matter. After all, everyone wants a smooth (and low-stress) move. How do you charge? By weight, cubic feet, or linear feet?
U-Pack charges by the linear feet your shipment occupies in our moving trailer or the number of moving containers you use. Our Space Estimator tool can help you determine the space you’ll need.
What if I use more or less weight, cubic feet, or linear feet?
The great thing about U-Pack is that you pay for what you use. Your trailer quote includes a per-foot adjustment rate. So, whether you’re right on, you under-estimate, or you over-estimate, you simply pay for what you use (down to a 5 ft. minimum). With the ReloCubes, you pay for the number of Cubes you use. So, if you reserve two but fit everything into one, then you just pay for one. Read our loading tips to help maximize your space.
What forms of payment are accepted and when do I pay?
U-Pack accepts all major credit cards and debit cards with a major credit card backing. While you’ll need a credit card to reserve your move, no holds are placed on the card when you reserve. Your card isn't charged until after you finish loading and know how much space you've used.
Is a deposit or down-payment required?
U-Pack does not require a down-payment or deposit for your move.
What is the cancelation policy?
With U-Pack, there’s no cancelation fee as long as you cancel more than 7 days before your move date. If you cancel within 7 days of the move, there’s a $50 cancelation fee. If you cancel on the same day of the move, there’s a $150 cancelation fee.
Am I guaranteed to get the moving equipment on the day of my move?
Yes, U-Pack guarantees to get you your moving trailer or ReloCube on your move day. When you make a reservation, the equipment is taken out of our inventory and assigned to you. That’s why it’s so important to make your reservation as soon as possible!
Will my household goods be loaded with another household’s goods shipment? Will my things ever be transferred without my supervision?
If you move with U-Pack, your shipment is the only household goods move on the trailer. We provide a divider wall (called a bulkhead) to install at the end of your shipment. Then, commercial goods (like electronics and clothing) are loaded into the remaining space. With the Cube, your belongings are the only thing in the container. You place your lock on and it stays on until you remove it. And U-Pack doesn’t transfer your belongings – they stay loaded and locked until you’re ready to unload.
What is the transit time and is it guaranteed?
U-Pack includes an estimated transit time in your moving quote (which is always the lowest cost option). The average delivery time is 2-5 business days. In almost every case, you can upgrade to U-Pack Guaranteed for an additional cost.
What type of liability coverage or insurance is included?
U-Pack includes basic catastrophic liability coverage and carrier negligence liability coverage in your price. You can check out the details of the liability coverage here. You have the option to increase your coverage for an additional cost.
