What's the Best Way to Store and Move?
I have to admit, when I began here six years ago, I was a little surprised by the number of customers who needed to store and move. Specifically, those who knew they were moving, but didn't know where to. That being said, if you fall in the catego... Read More
There are a lot of scenarios that could cause you to need storage and moving options during your relocation: you may have to vacate your current home weeks before the closing date on your new house, or maybe you're going to tackle a few renovation projects before moving the furniture into your new home. Whatever the reason or need, U-Pack has several storage and moving alternatives to fit your moving budget.
Storage and Moving Solution #1: Storage at Origin Storage at origin is ideal for situations where you're not quite sure just where you'll end up. For instance— let's say you've accepted a new job, but aren't sure which office or location you'll be assigned to. You can store your belongings at the ... Read More
Ok, so maybe mobile mini storage isn't that exciting. But it's actually pretty cool if you're moving— when you think about it, mobile mini storage can be a big help, especially when your moving situation is less than ideal. For example, what if the closing dates on your previous home and new house don't match up? Where are you going to keep all your belongings in the meantime? The ReloCube is the perfect solution: they can be stored at origin, destination, or even on-site. And that's just one scenario where mobile mini storage can help you avoid a headache. Here are a few scenarios where having a portable storage container would be really helpful:

Moving and storage companies: what you need to know
With any big move, there's typically more to it than just trying to find reputable moving and storage companies. You also have to deal with details like: finding a new home, settling in to a new job, enrolling the kids in their new school, finding a new family doctor, and just getting used to your new neighborhood in general. Who wants (or even has time) to stress over which of the moving and storage companies to use for your move? To make things a little easier, we've compiled 3 basic questions you should ask when speaking to any moving and storage company (we also included the answers you should hear— if not, don't say we didn't warn you!).
Questions to ask moving and storage companies
Question 1: How much space do I need for my belongings? What ha... Read More
Most people think of self storage in two ways— either the image of a musty attic comes to mind, or they have visions of dragging their items to a questionable rental space across town. Mobile self storage, however, is a horse of a different color!
With mobile self storage, the storage solution comes to you. And when you're moving with U-Pack, you'll have lots of options to choose from. You can load or unload a U-Pack portable storage container:
in your driveway at home
from your apartment or condo complex (just be sure to check on parking permission for the container before moving day)
OK, so you just bought a new house involving a cross-country move and you got a great deal on a rental truck. Sure…you have to drive it. But it's cheap. Here's the bummer though – the sellers won't agree to let you move in early and you don't have anything to do with your things during the "in between" time of moving out of your old place and into the new.
The Moving and Storage Solution This is a predicament we hear several times a day from people all across the country. You could just move everything into a storage unit while you wait. But loading and unloading once is hard enough. I can think of much better things to do in a new city than a continuous stream of loading and unloading and loading and unloading.
In the beginning there was just you. And all was well. Then you got stuff. And then more stuff. Suddenly you realized what storage meant. Storage would free you from your stuff. Not forever; just until you needed it again.
Storage is a wonderful thing for people like you. People with stuff. Stuff you sometimes need to put into storage.
Perhaps you haven't thought about storage. That's probably because you haven't needed to move.
Because here's the thing about stuff: it turns into baggage anytime you need to move. Baggage is something to be avoided. If someone says, "Whoa, you've sure got a lot of baggage." It's not meant to be a compliment.
That's how the need for storage sneaks up on you.
Chances are good that you don't even realize how much stuff you ... Read More
By now if you haven't heard that home sales are down considerably, well, you're probably living under a rock. Selling a house in this market has turned into a daunting task. But the fact remains, some homes are still being sold. So how do you make sure your home is one of the chosen ones?
Great tips for how to sell your house:
No more clutter. Perhaps the easiest AND most overlooked thing that you can do, is get stuff out. Prospective buyers want to be able to imagine their stuff in your home…not yours. Leave the major furniture so it doesn't look too bare or empty, but box up the clutter. It should look ready to live in rather than already lived in.
Where do you put it all? In an ABF U-Pack ... Read More
I mean really, the "where" of moving is just details… right? But actually, whether you know which city you're moving to and just haven't closed on a house or literally don't know which city you are moving to, you're going to need storage. It's a good idea to check with all of the moving companies you're considering to see how they handle moving and storage – it could end up getting pretty expensive.
The U-Pack storage solution makes the process simple. All you have to do is load your stuff into one of our trailers or ReloCubes (our portable storage unit) and we can store it. You can either have it stored at a location near your ... Read More
If I'm storing my items, what should I take with me?
This question may seem like it's fairly easy to answer, but moving can be stressful so it's easy see how you might do something like accidentaly pack up your passport two weeks before leaving the country! I recommend that before you pack for storage, you make a list to avoid forgetting something important – if you're doing container storage, once it's in storage it may not be possible to gain access to it. Although everyone's list will vary, this list may prove helpful:
Medicine (it's a good idea to throw away any that may expire while in storage).
Personal identification forms and important documents (passport, birth certificate, social security card etc.)
