The Guide to Moving Books

If you’re moving, and you have a lot of books, you may not have given them much thought. They can’t break like your precious china, and they aren’t big like your couch—so what’s the big deal about moving them?

They’re heavy.

Well, actually, boxes full of books are heavy. One book may not weight much, but stack 10 together and the story changes. Whether you have a bookcase full or an entire library, it’s important to consider the weight, and be prepared to spread it out so you (or your movers) can easily carry the boxes on moving day.

Unlimited = Peace of Mind?

I wonder how many people opt to pay more for things like unlimited texting to avoid surprise charges at the end of the month. I do, though I’ve never needed it.

It may be similar to why people looking for cheap ways to move tend to gravitate toward truck rental companies offering “unlimited mileage.” The last thing you want at the end of an expensive long-distance move is a higher bill because a detour caused the price to increase. For many, there’s security in “unlimited.”

Compare the Cost of PODS® to U-Pack

If you’re looking for a containerized moving option, and you’ve done some research, you’ve probably discovered that the two companies most often compared are PODS® and U-Pack. The services are fairly similar (drop a container off at your home, you load it, it gets picked up and moved to your new home), but there are few important differences. And in a lot of locations, one of the leading differences is cost—which means the big question is “How much does PODS® cost compared to U-Pack?

It’s a great, legitimate question.

But, because prices differ so much throughout the country, giving a “ballpark” cost isn’t possible (bummer, I know). You can easily get quotes from both companies and compare, though.

Looking for U-Haul coupons? Find out to save money on your move!

If you’re trying to track down a U-Haul coupon, you’re probably looking to save on your move. I don’t blame you – moving can be expensive! While U-Haul coupons can take a small portion off your rental cost, it’s important to remember the total cost of using a U-Haul. There are extra costs you may not consider when deciding on a moving company. These extra costs like fuel, meals, hotel stays, and road tolls are all expenses that can take a chunk out of your moving budget, especially the cost of fuel. What if there was a way to move on budget without using a U-Haul coupon?

Don’t assume a U-Haul coupon will make your move affordable. Check out U-Pack too!

Which moving truck company is the cheapest?

If you’re moving locally, you’ll probably find that most of the DIY truck rental companies you’re familiar with (like U-Haul, Budget, and Penske) offer very similar pricing, and the cheapest one often varies by location and truck size. But, if you’re moving long-distance, the cheapest may not be at a truck rental service at all.
